Not Winning

I can’t deny my heart

I can not deny my mind

I can not, this is not the time

In your truth you see fire

and plunder and blunder

In your eyes you see

more ways to victimize

Your soul is in danger

holding onto those codes

your mind is toxic

as toxic as the heat you spew

You left scars and wounds

in your wake

drinking that bottle

Saying those things

dancing along the electric maze

Of who sees who and what say what

video taping, voyeur.

You took those children

away from their homes

You took those mothers

away from their clothes

You put them in a pit

of flesh and bone

You called that mercy

So quick to condone

And as I witness these stories

and these people in places

I can not even reach.

You reach your hand through

the masses, and scriptures

and they worship you like a god

You are not second coming of Jesus

And these people praying

for the end of the world

You filled with so much fear

anger and venom

praising the murder of innocents

drinking their blood

syrupy sweet

This is America

Once home of the brave

This is the new America

they warned us about

and I can not leave.

There is no promise land

beyond this sphere

not in the way you see it

poisoned with anger and fear

People are dying

as you just go to work

hoping you’re not next.

Well soon a decision will

be made for all of us

against our will

yet again

now you know what rape feels like

rape of the heart

rape of the world

rape of the soul

If you don’t quit

We will be next.

Stop what you are doing

look around to the world

Stop what you are doing

look around to your friend

This is destruction

not love, or living.

This is destruction

This is not winning.
